Visiting a church for the first time can be nerve-wracking...
...But having an idea of what to expect can help. We'd love to have you visit and be part of the New Salem family.
What is the Café service like?
Our Café worship service meets in our fellowship hall and has a casual and informal atmosphere sitting around tables. The music style is contemporary and upbeat and the coffee is flowing. Pastor Kevin is the main teaching pastor and it usually lasts around 60-75 minutes. If you are visiting with us, we offer a play area in the back of the room for you to use if your little one gets restless or we offer a nursery for your little one (up to 2 years old).
Where do I go?
Our Café service meets in our recently renovated Fellowship Hall. When you arrive, park in the grass field to the left of the sanctuary. This is on the opposite side of the paved parking lot.
What should I wear?
Come as you are. You will find a range of dress styles from jeans and t-shirts to a sport jacket and dress. Come dressed in what makes you comfortable and you’ll fit right in.
Do I need a Bible?
If you own a Bible you will want to bring it. The Pastor will refer to it often – and even encourage you to mark it up as your life-textbook. If you don’t have one don’t worry about it, everything that is read from the Bible will be on the big screen for you to read with ease in the Café service. \We also encourage the use of media devices such as smartphones and tablets to be used during our services. We know that there are some pretty amazing e-Bibles and resources available. Simply silence your phones please, thanks!
Pastor Kevin typically teaches from what is known as the (CSB) Christian Standard Bible, but other different translations will be used at times. If you have a version you are used to or prefer, bring it along. The differences from version to version are mostly minor. Having a CSB will simply make it easier to follow along when our Pastor reads or points out the wording in a particular verse or passage.

Where do my children go?
We believe in a family-style worship service. Our philosophy at New Salem is that children need to see their parents worship and worship with them and encourage the families to worship together. We enjoy the blessed sound of those little ones in our service. However, we do offer childcare for the little ones (up to 2 years old). Our volunteers go through a background check and receive excellent training.
On Sunday mornings at 10:15 am we offer a dedicated children's program for toddlers through 5th grade. Kids will engage in a bible story, Scripture memory, craft time, music and of course snacks. The program lasts about an hour.

I have special needs. What accommodations do you have?
